XHTML, RSS, blah blah blah!

OK, so the other day Scott Andrew LePera mentioned something about some kind of XHTML schema to replace RSS as a blog syndication method. Meh. He links to the other main focus of this debate, written by Tantek Celik too.

Oh I dunno. It all just seems a bit "yes, but…" eh? But rather than come out with what I think, I would refer you to Mark Pilgrim's take on the matter, Syndication is not publication.

As for dealing with XHTML, or even doing wholescale site conversions to it, I've read too many horror stories at this stage, although I'm sure it will come to pass.

On a totally unrelated point, I've had my first stab at a print media stylesheet. So far I've tested it on blogs, articles and the home page. I checked it out using the following OS browser combos — your mileage may vary. Let me know if you have problems.

  • IE 5.5 / Win2k
  • Mozilla 1.1 / Win2k
  • Chimera 0.6 / Mac OS X 10.2.2
  • IE 5.2.2 / Mac OS X 10.2.2
