Before The Great Reboot Of Thursday Last 17 Jan, 2006
Check this out. Last Thursday, I updated Ethelred (my iMac G4) to the newly-released 10.4.4 version of OS X. But I just had to take a screenshot of SysStat before that: thirty eight days baby! And he was still running fine.
It’s good, this UNIX stuff.

We run linux Fedora Core 4 on our internet server. Rock solid. Here's the current uptime stats:
[root@cannibal ~]# uptime
12:19:27 up 91 days, 21:29, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
While not spectacular (we're certainly not trying to break any records - this machine is a workhorse, not a "ooh look how long between reboots"), it's testament to solid code.
My G4 OS X powerbook doesn't fare so well, but still far more stable than any Windows machine I've ever had. I use it for all my software development so it does cope a serious beating daily.Brendon Upson#
