Five things you didn’t know about me

Uh oh! I have now been tagged at least thrice, by Jens-Christian Fischer, Paul Mooney and Declan Lynch! So I had better respond. Gah :-)

  1. Many, many years ago, whilst at university I was arrested and kept in the cells overnight. That’s all I’m saying… :-D
  2. Whilst living and studying in the US (also many years ago), I taught a significant proportion of the Midwest quaint British words like “wanker” and “bollocks”
  3. Some thirteen years ago, I almost broke my back sledding (McMerica again!)
  4. In 1996 I bought a Chapman Stick. Not many people know what they are.
  5. Staying on the Stick theme, I met two of my musical heroes on the same day, way back in 1997: Tony Levin and Nick Beggs. Wild!

So… I shall now go for Joe, Bruce, Julian, jonvon and Carl.

  1. Well, Jailbird, I have posted my list and am now passing the torch.Joe Litton#
  2. Hey Ben,

The Chapman Stick is soooo cool and that is really sweet that you have one! I would love to get my hands on even the basic model, but they are darn expensive. How proficient are you on it? I know in other posts you've mentioned that you don't have much time to play, but did you play a lot when you first got it? You should make a video of yourself jamming! :-)

By the way, I'm going to see Project/Object, the Zappa cover band tonight. Should be fun. Cheers!Chris Blatnick#
  3. Not proficient at all! Alas; I got it at the same time I started work—nuff said.

I bought a reconditioned Stick from the Chapmans themselves and it was pretty reasonable for a beautifully (hand-) built instrument.Ben Poole#
