BBC news: Broadcaster Ned Sherrin dies aged 76.

It’s probably unfashionable for a “youngster” (hah!) like me to admit to a predilection for the humour and intellect of the “old guard” but I count the late Ned Sherrin as one of these extraordinary broadcasters / entertainers / general-renaissance-men that I like so much.

(I should point out that I also like P.G. Wodehouse, Round The Horne, Spike Milligan, The Goon Show and Kenneth Williams, amongst others. Yeah, I’m pretty old school).

So, farewell Mr. Sherrin, and many many thanks.
