Golly, where to start?
Walk, don't run (you might fall over), to Julian Robichaux's
excellent set of Notes tips documents
Noticed Julian has an article about installing Notes on Linux using wine. Given the changes in Linux since he wrote his article, it could possibly be shortened considerably:
Step 1: Install wine. Use one of the following methods:
a. Select Add / Remove software from the Application menu. Search for wine. Select wine-0.9.xx-x.youros.yourcpu. Select Apply.
b. in a terminal window type: sudo yum install wine
Step 2: Insert your Notes CD and install Notes exactly as you would on a Windows PC. You might have to actually browse the CD and select the install file manually.
My wine / Notes experience only extends to Fedora Core 3+, but I've never had issues installing the regular Notes client or the Designer client on Fedora. Historically, running has been a bit 'twitchy', especially years ago, but I would call it pretty stable at this point.
Notable issues in R5
I'd like this to be a living doc: we'll branch off to other pages as necessary. Anyway, here's a dump of some of the dev. issues I've come across in various released of R5: Issues with R5

Tips and reference in the DominoJava page.
I've moved this to its own page, DominoDIIOP
. I think that makes sense.
