Ted Nelson

Via Ned Batchelder's excellent blog I found this tidbit from Ted Nelson, coiner of the term "hypertext" back in the sixties. He says:

I DON'T BUY IN

The Web isn't hypertext, it's DECORATED DIRECTORIES!

Ted says this in a *.TXT file presented on the web. Indeed, all his writings are in pure text. No hypertext at all. Hmmm…

Later: Ted also coined that corking word discussed here a couple of weeks back: intertwingled!
