Lots of RSS

As others have noted, IBM developerWorks has a whole load of RSS feeds available. The page also says:

To ensure that you have all the resources you need to get up-to-date headline feeds on dW’s most recently published developer content, we will soon be expanding this site. In the coming weeks, we will add RSS feeds for:

Good stuff. What is a little more mysterious is how the site team chose the RSS aggregators to recommend: no NetNewsWire? FeedDemon?

Meanwhile, Russell goes for Atom again. Time to watch the comments fly!

  1. Well, the upside is that I followed the link to Feedreader, development of which had stagnated for over a year, and I see a new version was released a few weeks ago. I'd been planning to ditch it for months, and was too lazy to migrate all my feeds. Now I might not need to. Thanks :-)Colin Pretorius#
  2. Cool. I had not seen that, and was similarly almost ready to ditch it.Ben Langhinrichs#
  3. Hurrah! Mind you, don’t all newsreaders import / export OPML? They must do surely?

That way, migration should never be too much of a headache.Ben Poole#
  4. The new version might, but the 2.5 Alpha from last year doesn't - at least not that I can see. To be honest, it wasn't the greatest of apps. I wanted to use a 'free' RSS reader, and it was the best of the few I tested back in the day. As soon as I had a few feeds going, it ended up being too much of a schlep to try anything else.

The master plan was to write my own aggregator (for sh*ts and giggles), but that's not going to happen in a hurry :-)Colin Pretorius#
  5. hmmm, I don't see a new release of FeedReader. I've checked here, and the latest is still "FeedReader 2.5 Alpha 610"
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/feedreader/
    http://www.feedreader.com/

Perhaps it's not ready for release just yet:

  7. Hmmm… I wonder if we could prevail upon Ed (or another friendly Lotus insider) to bring the Manfred's madicon reader to the attention of the owner of that particular developerWorks web page.

  8. Brian's right, there's nothing there. Apologies for the false alarm, I saw the mention of 2.6 on the feedreader.com main page, but hadn't tried to download it yet.

Hehe, just 'cause you read it on the internet (or a project's main page), doesn't mean it's true ;-)Colin Pretorius#

  10. Got me ;-)Ben Poole#
